Important Travel Advice
Students planning international travel should regularly monitor DFAT听听and the听听飞别产蝉颈迟别.
UQ strongly recommends that students do not travel to, or transit through, locations rated 鈥淒o not travel鈥 or 鈥淩econsider your need to travel鈥,听due to security risks,听disruption听and insurance limitations.听
Where a destination听remains听approved, but a student chooses to transit via such locations against advice, UQ support and insurance apply only to the approved experience and destination, not to the student鈥檚 travel routing.听
Students听are responsible for听reviewing flight routes and keeping their travel details up to date.听
5. Insurance
If you are participating in a UQ Approved Global Experience you can be covered by UQ's Corporate Travel Insurance and .
Important notice
Please refer to the UQ Insurance Services听, in particular the听Travel Insurance for Students听brochure, to understand when you are and are not covered by UQ travel insurance. Students are strongly encouraged to arrange personal travel insurance when UQ coverage does not apply.
UQ Corporate Travel Insurance Coverage Details
UQ鈥檚 global experience participants are covered by UQ鈥檚 Corporate Travel Insurance:
- Only in the country of their global experience
- For direct travel to/from the host country for the duration of the program
If you plan to travel outside of your host country, we听recommended that you purchase additional travel and health insurance before you leave.听You can take out additional coverage with听UQ鈥檚 insurer听听or another insurance company. It is up to you to organise any additional coverage.
Students travelling in a country where they also have citizenship may not be covered for medical expenses while overseas or medical evacuation.

Certificate of Currency
When applying to the host university听or for your visa, you may be required to show proof of insurance (called a Certificate of Currency). You can request a from the UQ Insurance Office听once you have been accepted by the host.
You can only request a Certificate of Currency after you have:
- a UQ Global Experiences Confirmation letter (request a UQ Global Experience Confirmation Letter听 through your Workflow if you don't already have one)
- submitted your host acceptance to the Internships and Global Experiences Team;
- completed the ISOS profile and travel details (see step 4. International SOS)

Mandatory host health insurance听
Some universities will require you to purchase an insurance package in addition to the UQ insurance, to meet visa or enrolment requirements. You should contact your host university directly if you have any questions.
Some partner universities allow you to apply for a waiver from purchasing their insurance package if you submit a:
- ,听
- 补听, and
- a document provided by the host university鈥檚 insurer outlining the requirements that must be met to receive the waiver. This document must be submitted to insurance@uq.edu.au听and signed by UQ鈥檚 insurance company.
- waiver eligibility is assessed by the host university and is not听guaranteed as requirements are subject to change.
- before purchasing an additional policy, students should confirm that the policy meets the host听university鈥檚 minimum waiver requirements.
Emergency situations
In the event of an emergency overseas follow the instructions of the local authorities in the first instance.
