Confirm eligibility for short-term experiences

To participate in a short-term global experience, you must meet a number of eligibility criteria.听

Make sure you meet the eligibility criteria before applying for a short-term global experience.

To be eligible to participate in a short-term global experience you must:

select an experience from the supported experiences听list
be enrolled and taking classes in a degree program at 糖心logo入口 in the semester before the experience
have completed at least six (6)听units at 糖心logo入口 in your current UQ program
have a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.0,听as shown on your UQ studies report
have at least two (2) UQ units remaining in your current UQ program
meet any other published eligibility requirements relevant to the nominated short-term experience
agree to UQ's Global Experiences听Terms and Conditions
meet 'Additional Eligibility Criteria' outlined below for applicable programs

厂迟耻诲别苍迟蝉听will not be permitted听to undertake a听Short-Term Global Experience at听the same host institution听more than once.

It is your responsibility to confirm that you meet the eligibility criteria and complete the relevant application procedure with your preferred host. The experience host is responsible for making the final decision on your听eligibility to participate in the short-term experience.

International students听

International Students cannot participate in a short-term study experience to听the country/region of passport, if you hold a听temporary residency visa for Australia (international student visa or provisional Business Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 188)). The only exception to this is for internships.听

Note:听A short-term study experience may impact your eligibility to meet the听听for the Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa.

Additional Eligibility Criteria

Experience Date Impacts on Teaching Periods听

If your nominated short-term global experience overlaps with UQ鈥檚 teaching period, you must meet the eligibility criteria below, in addition to the standard eligibility criteria.

your Application for Credit must be听approved by your faculty
you must have a minimum GPA of 4.5, as shown on your UQ studies report
you must be in Australia and ready to attend classes from week 3

Impact on semester classes

You must check the assessment requirements for your enrolled courses in the Electronic Course Profile (ECP) to ensure that you will not miss any assessment items.

You will not receive any special consideration for assessment extensions or deferred exams because of late commencement.

You need to be aware of UQ's course enrolment deadlines听for the semester following your听short-term global experience.

If you want to add a course after the specified deadlines, you are required to submit a to the faculty for consideration. Requests to add courses after the census date are unlikely to be approved.

BEL Faculty Students

Students studying with the faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL) should review the听 and speak with faculty staff for specific advice regarding pre-requisite requirements.听

All BEL Faculty students who intend to undertake a Short-term Global (virtual or in-person) Experience for credit transfer will need to apply via the Global Experiences (GE) in advance by the stipulated deadlines. Only students who have been pre-approved by GE and BEL Faculty, will be guaranteed for credit transfer once the experience has been successfully completed and an official/certified final transcript for this experience has been received by the University.

No student will be permitted to apply for credit transfer retrospectively for a Short-term Global (virtual or in-person) Experience. For students who were not pre-approved in advance by GE and BEL Faculty, credit transfer will not be granted, regardless of whether courses are listed in the as approved or other pre-approved students have been granted credit transfer for the same course.

All students must complete any prerequisites for the courses they want to enrol in for their global experience. These are listed in the course profile on the . Conditional approval for courses will not be given.

Students looking to study courses toward the following programs while on a short-term experience are subject to additional eligibility criteria:

Bachelor of Laws (Honours)
Bachelor of Advanced Finance and Economics (Honours)
Bachelor of Advanced Business (Honours)
Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (Honours)
Bachelors of Business Management/Education (Secondary)
Master of Business Administration

Master of Engineering #32

Master of Engineering #32听students are听not eligible to undertake short-term experiences for credit; however, they can participate in听experiences eligible for professional practice hours.

Disclaimer

Deferred and supplementary exams

If you have been granted a deferred or supplementary exam, you may not be able to participate in a short-term global experience due to date restrictions. Please contact the听examinations for further assistance.听

Short-term programs may commence on the Monday directly after the semester examination period. Therefore, students are strongly encouraged to plan their Semester enrolment in advance to include courses that do not have end-of-semester exams to avoid scheduling conflicts. Deferred exams are not usually granted for participation in short-term global experiences. Should end-of-semester exams be unavoidable in your program, students must consult their Faculty before applying to seek written confirmation that a deferred exam would be approved.

Please note that the Global Experiences team cannot guarantee that deferred exams will be granted, as this decision rests with the Faculties.

Short-term global experience implications on semester exchange applications

It is听recommended that students DO NOT participate in a short-term global experience directly before a semester exchange. Overseas travel prior to a semester exchange can negatively impact your ability to obtain a student visa for both a short-term and semester long experience. In some cases, students may need to choose to only participate in one global experience.听

Students who participate in a short-term global experience immediately prior to a semester exchange must acknowledge the following:听

It is your responsibility to research immigration procedures for your host country/countries.
The Global Experience Team听and your host university are not able to expedite the processing of your application, visa documents, or visa application听due to impending travel plans.
If you choose to withdraw from either experience, you must contact UQ's听Global Experiences Team听to confirm your withdrawal.听

Restricted Programs

Due to curriculum restrictions, some UQ programs听are not suitable for a short-term study experience for-credit.听If you听are enrolled听in one of the programs listed below, you are not eligible to participate in a short-term study experience and receive credit. However, participation as not-for-credit may be possible.
